Velocity family pooling

Welcome back VFF... It's a bloody shame you came back with a compliance issue rather than the dozens of problems people have reached out to you about recently on here.

I take your point however having such a discussion on here invited such a result.

Just wanted to ask this question just to make sure I'm complying with the ToS of VFF.

Here is the situation. Next year I have a couple trips planned up with the Mrs and so does my father (he lives at the same address). He'll be missing 100SCs in order to meet VA SG. With SYD-SIN-HKG r/t (Flexi), would it be okay for the Mrs to pool 100 SCs to me for the inbound leg and 100SC to my father for the outbound leg?

Yes, your wife can do this as your father lives at your address so he's eligible under the Ts & Cs, but she will need to change her pooling arrangements during her trip as you can only have a maximum of 2 adults (i.e. people over 18) as part of the "pool" at any one time. Therefore she would need to have her account set up to pool to you for the inbound leg, but set up to pool to your father for the outbound leg.

As i see it, the main conditions on family pooling in simple terms is a pool up to 6 people ( family members ) with 2 adults ( 1 being the primary recipient of the SC's ) and up to 4 children under 18 years. All family in the pool must reside at the same address. You can alter the pool as you see fit. So to answer you.... No problem I can see here

@CJEMNMAC as well, cheers for the replies. Just don't want to be seen as gaming the system!

Here I am with 70K points and was somehow wondering if I could work a way to exchange them for QFF points...this thread answers my question!

Another question here, SCs are pooled to whomever the person was setup with on the date of travel is that correct? So in a situation where flights were taken on 15/03 by person A and setup to be pooled to person B even if the pooling was changed to person C after the 15/03, SCs and points would be still go to person B correct?

Yes, that's correct. You will usually receive an email from Velocity when setting up or making subsequent changes to your family pooling arrangements - for example, I was pooling to my husband for my recent PER-SYD flight and when I cancelled that arrangement a few days after the flight so that my return SYD-PER sector would pool to me, the confirmation email from Velocity said:

We would like to confirm that your Velocity Points and Status Credits will no longer be pooled to Mr Jurahn, Membership number xx_xx_xx_.

From 3 Sep 2015 any Velocity Points and Status Credits you earn will be allocated to your own Account. Any retrospective claims submitted where the activity occurred during the period you were pooling with Mr Jurahn will be allocated to their Account.

Is there anyway to piggyback status credits?
For example, my father's status credits are currently pooling into my account (thats our 2x18y.o limit).
If my mother then pools into my fathers account does that mean that I will receive both of their SC's?
Thanks

No

"SC/FF pooling" is a different function to "Points transfer"

With "pooling" you can allocate which family account your SC/FF points are going to.
With 'points transfer" you can transfer FF points (not SC) to another account even if it had previously arrived into your account from someone else via Pooling

You cannot transfer SC via Points transfer

No as Quickstatus has mentioned. However with family pooling you can only have 2 x adults (plus valid children) pooling at any one time. In other words no piggy backing. As well (as I am sure you know) your parents have to be living with you at the same address.

To the OP - I'm actually astounded that you received so many polite responses to your question. What difference does it make if Velocity knows? YOU'LL know. And that should be enough for you to reset your moral compass and do the right thing mate.

Pretty much. This is the reason VA lounge passes have been made electronic and you can't be made Royal Ambassador with IHG through referral anymore. Some chap always has to take it too far.

Its too bad about the electronic passes, it would be great if they could be used by the person giving away their status.

One note from me on the Velocity Family Pooling bizzo, probably many on here know, but I didn't!
You can only add one adult family member, who flies VA to pool into your account, but 4 children are allowed to family pool into an adult's VFF account, plus that 1 adult, into the main flyer's account.
Didn't know this!
All the VFF account would say is, "beneficiary details do not match, please check details and try again", it does not explain that only 1 adult can pool into another another family member's VFF account.
Thanks to this website, I found the reason why via a closed thread.

For as long as I can remember the pool has always been 2 over 18yrs and 4 under 18 yrs

It is very clear in the T and C that only 2 people over 18 can be in the pool.

Your comment that only 1 adult can pool into another family member account is not quite 100% correct. If the account holder is under 18 then 2 adults can pool to that account.

No under 18s.
And me being the main VFF flyer, them they don't fly VA that much, rare, and the name I entered into my dad's VFF application is as it appears on my VFF statement, and my VFF number is right.
They will be travelling together, so I can't get them both to pool into mine.
Only way is to wait till my dad gets to 5,000 VFF and them transfer the points onto me.
That closed thread on AFF did mention only one other adult family member can pool into the main (flight activity's member account).
Its more so the SC that I am after!
But VFF online says no.
Edit: under T&C, for family pooling, section 14.3, subpoint 2, if beneficiary over 18, only 1 other adult can family pool into beneficiary's account.
Aha... okay, thats sorted.
Thanks for (indirectly making) me go and read T&C, CJEMNMAC.

Can I get some clarification around pooling?

My SC are about to expire, so though I'd pool over points + SC to Mrs AS (who's anniversary is sometime next year).
Am I right in thinking that those points + SC will then be hers, and when I change the pooling direction back in the future, it's only future earning on her part that will come my way and I won't get back anything previously pooled over?

100%

Only future on her part will go back to you from the change in date.. as when you activate it the other way..earning on your part goes to her from that date on

Quick question to the AFF gurus.

Know I can change family pooling prior to physically taking a flight, but just wondering if I can change the family pooling in the middle of a two sector flight whilst holding BP's for both legs? Planning on BKK-SIN-BNE flight with the first sector from BKK-SIN pooled from my account to my partner and the second sector (SIN-BNE) cancelling pooling and me collecting the SC's. The flights would be on separate days, but booked as a married segment (not multi city itinerary).

Can I do this?

You can, if you can get the timing right cancelling the pooling.
