Vaustralia premium economy

Flew back from LA in premium (went over business). Separated from normal economy with a self serve bar for refreshments. Bigger seats with more space in between. About twice the recline of economy so its easy to get some rest. I dont see any cons with those features on such a long flight. Business with a lie flat bed is the only way to do that trip but price is allways an issue. While there is premium economy, I will never fly economy internationally again. V australia services is great, planes are great - very refreshing when compared to qantas service.

I am a Velocity Gold and was treated extremely well.

The main con is the obvious one - the cost. If you're happy with the premium, and satisfied that the extras are worth it then it's fine. But it's purely subjective and based on personal affordability, so others will not see that the extras are worth it.

I am going to coughet with them in 3weeks and have booked this class as it was a good price and i will be travelling with my leg in a cast up to my knee. Just hope there will be enough leg room. Thanks for your feed back.

I found the seats to be quite hard after a while. The coughet trips are quite short in comparison to the LA flights, so I would hate to spend 12 hours in one of those seats!

Other than that - the food was average (I thought the food on QF was better) and the IFE was great. The service felt quite intimate due to the smallness of the cabin.

Aside from the seats

I like that the Y+ cabin has two toilets for exclusive use of Y+ passengers (but I 'spose those in uber-business [row 5] might also access them.)

The loos have a distinctly different environment, with unique wallpaper & piped music.

I fly QG Y+ quite often and have done VA Y+ twice (over and back to LAX) and was underwhelmed.

Seat is not a patch on QF's Y+, neither was food, neither was service (friendly but distinctly amateurish). T3 at LAX is really awful as well and if something goes wrong with the plane, GOOD LUCK as they dont have many others available to sub in.

Having said that it was cheaper than QF Y+ at the time. I would only do it again if the price was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the QF equiv.

Cheers

I have not looked for a while now but VAust was significantly cheaper when I last flew in May 2010 and that has been a consistent trait.

Following up on my VAustralia Flight I must say I was impressed. Cabin crew were very helpful and went out there way to make me comfortable as I travel with a broken foot. But with other reports the seperate bar does tend to be used by crew in preparing and not encouraging passengers to gather. And yes the seats become very hard after a couple of hours. Range of movies and tv was great and no issues with the food or the drinks. All up enjoyed the class and flight and would fly them again.:)
