Advice please guys.

Have a couple of young family members who recently arrived in Vancouver for intended 6mth working holiday. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances matters have drastically changed and now need to get 2 travelling Snowboard bags returned to Australia unaccompanied.

Initial contact with our freight forwarders / customs agents here have left me with a semi coronary. Any good AFFer been faced with similar dilemma?

Never had to deal with something as large as snowboards, but have had to send heavy cartons from the USA a couple of times.

In all cases the cost it came down to how long I want to wait till the stuff arrives. And in all cases US Post, the slow way, got the consignment. But I doubt any post would deal with snowboards, but they could ask.

I guess they could start with UPS/DHL/Canada Post etc to price compare and "mail" them to you.

Yes but size and weight significant = hugely significant cost - was hoping somebody may have cheaper solution.

Do the bags HAVE to come back to Australia? Or could they go into a storage locker for the remainder of their trip? In the 2 minutes of research I've done, I noticed they can start as low as $29 a month, which at under $180 for 6 months would most likely be a better deal than shipping the bags.
