Valet parking - BNE warning

I dropped off the car on Friday afternoon to the rotunda (under the Lounge) on Friday afternoon & was advised I had to go to Level 4 in the short term carpark to pick it up.
OK, it's because renovations are taking place to build the new Premium Lounge entry.
I was walked from the new Valet drop off area to the pick up area by valet supervisor "Grace".
It's a bit of a walk (for someone used to just getting the escalator down stairs).
I paid the $108 fee, and was given exit card & receipt.
When I got to the exit gate, after putting card into machine for release, it showed up that I needed to pay $48.
I tried the intercom but no one answered and with cars building up behind me, I paid the $48 via credit card.
I rung the Valet office and they immediately refunded me the total fee of $108.

Good service from them in that regard, but it was a PITA....

I heard that the changes will take 14-18 months...
The distance is gonna restrict the number of times I use Valet until this is sorted....

This is major bummer.. Have they dropped their price for the major loss of convenience?

Shouldn't they have refunded $156? The $108 original and then the extra $48 you also had to pay?

Sorry, I have no idea how this works, every time I've been to BNE I've generally dropped off a hire car.
 
This is bad news. As someone who was critical of the VA valet park originally (still critical that we don't earn points on it), I admit to using it regularly. With the extra walk, the question I guess is why bother. May as well just use the cheaper self park option or maybe even off-airport parking and get dropped right at the door (almost).
