Hey everyone,

First time post, long time stalker..

The virgin website is confusing the s:?::!::?: out of me, so i'm thinking you guys might be able to help.

My gf has been given a free trip to NYC (airfares and accom), in early July (dates are pretty flexible, but we have to be there for 10 July).. I want to try go over with her, and have 150k points to use on flights.

At the moment the best I can find is using around 60k points to get from SYD-LAX on VA1 (reward seat), and then booking the rest of the trip myself. Is there any other better way to go about this? I swear the virgin website changes the points it costs every time i look at it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron

Yeah its a bit late.. However if you wanted to go the long way around the world you could fly SYD > SIN > FRA > NY on points with singapore air and transfer your velocity points to use over there. Krisflyer usually have pretty good reward value and their business class is very good. However it would be like 30 hours of flying so might be a bit silly.

Yer, unfortunately we only just found out.. not the ideal scenario..

The other option I have is using points and pay the whole way there and back, reduces the cost to about $1600.. That would still get me status credits and points yeah?

Probably your best bet is a reward seat SYD > LAX return and then call the partner redemption line and see what reward seats you can get LAX > NYC. If you can't find anything of value check the internet for some virgin america discount codes and just pay real money, sometimes I see some floating around the internet.
