Hi All,

I am due to fly SQ Y back to the UK in a couple of weeks, departing out of Melbourne. I'm just curious as to other Platinum's experience? Did you check in at the Suite's counter? Did you have any dramas using priority boarding?

Thanks,

Just flew SQ this week as VA Gold, all published benefits were delivered, inc lounge access in BNE & SIN and priority boarding and check in etc

I flew Y MEL-SIN-BCN, CDG-SIN-MEL in May as WP. All benefits as advertised and they announced boarding in the MEL lounge late enough that by the time we all made it to the gate it was only the lounge lizards left to get on anyway, so no need for priority boarding.

Just don't expect any recognition on board (DYKWIAs beware!)

Agree with the above comments. BNE-SIN-HKG and return in Y a couple of months ago. All benefits as advertised and no issues when flashing the WP card. No noticeable on-board benefits though.

Similar story - benefits as advertised. Lounge access where available, and priority checkin/boarding all good. We flew PER-SIN-SGN return.

Doing SYD-SIN-CDG and back next week. I assume you didn't get lounge access at CDG?
Correct, no lounge access at CDG's incredibly designed as only the French can T1 (the checkin agent recognised my Velocity card immediately even though I was just holding it in my hand).

As mentioned above the SIN Krisflyer Gold Lounge is rubbish - I'd recommend giving it a miss and hitting the paid showers instead or going to watch the fish :)

It's the Velocity Parisian Economy Conundrum - do I fly EY and enjoy the beautiful lounges in CDG and AUH and SYD, but sit crammed into 777 10-across for 14 hours or do I slum it in the terminal, chowing down on a croissant with the plebs but then fly on the 380 or the 9-across 777 in what must be one of the least-awful Y classes around?

You don't think you be being a tad over the top there do you Mr Chook? SIA Gold Lounge may not be perfect - but RUBBISH? Give me a break. dw please do visit SIAGL and report your findings please. As mentioned on many occasions no showers or toilets within lounge - but IMHO reasonable F & B offerings - and comfortable seating.

14 hours is much longer than the hour or two that you wouldn't have a lounge at CDG. I'd be going SQ.

The lounge is ok. More like domestic qp, but ok grog and sometimes ok food. Toilets are 50m away and clean. Better than no lounge IMHO

I don't mind the Gold lounges - it's never been very busy when I've been in there, so it's a quiet spot to relax in. Not much food and no bubbles in one of them (can't remember which terminal, but one did and one didn't last time we went through). Loos aren't too far away, and it's better than no lounge :)

Thanks guys. For those WP, did you check in at the Suites counter?

I only have about an hour in Singapore on the way over to the UK and then i am stopping in Singapore on the way home so wont be in the SQ KFG Lounge for long anyway... I have been in there before, as most have said its ok/adequate and yeah better than no lounge at all.

I think we checked in at the Business counter.

Have to agree with you here...the lounge really gets a bad rap here doesn't it? I think people are being a bit precious and don't realise how good they've got it.

Come back to me when you've been to Vietnam Airlines lounge in Hue... a grand total of 6 seats. Give it a break!

Air China lounge in Chengdu, where the toilet opens directly into the lounge and you get to see who doesn't put the toilet seat down and don't start me on the smells.

Well the lounge in Hue didn't have a toilet... so had to go out with the masses and no shower even in the terminal. Sound familiar?? So :p:p:p:p:p

When i fly out of Barcelona as VA WP will i be granted access to the lounge that SQ use in BCN... noting it isnt a Silver Krisflyer lounge.
