VA Plat on VS to UK

If you keep having bad experiences why have you done 20 flights? Does your work force you onto VS? If so I would be providing feedback to your boss do they can reassess the carrier policy.

I have done VS in UC & PE probably about 12 times from LHR to MIA and I could never fault them.

Also, of you are booked into J or D you get a limo transfer both ends which is pretty good.

I do love the drive through check in VS offer at LHR. I think it is the best trump card offered by any airline servicing Heathrow!

I was in the lounge. No problem with the staff, the airport or it's amenities. But every time I stop in HKG I spend about 2 hours in an immigration line!

Ahhh I see, they do have a lot of counters though in the 2 immigration halls - also if you are a frequent traveller be sure to get the Frequent Visitor chip added to your passport so you can use the e-channel.

Takes me 5 mins to clear immigration and 2 mins to clear customs with carry on bags - perfect for mileage running :)

I have to agree with ROK. I have flown with VS a few times, SYD,HKG,NRT,LHR,SFO,JFK, most in Upper Class 1 sector in PE and 2 sectors(JFK) in Y and all were good flights. I must say the Y is pretty cramped though. Wasn't a very long flight in Y but still felt cramped.. Travelled LHR-JFK-LHR in Y :)

Another VS fan here. Flew MCO-LGW last year in Y, LHR-SYD in J all on points. Was dreading the MCO-LGW leg as it was the only Y flight on my RTW trip, but it was fine. I've flown VS LGW to LAS as a family of 5, treated really well (at that point the kids were 9, 6 and 1). Also a couple of solo Y return on to LHR, and yes, Y is a bit squishy but OK.

Sadly VS isn't such great value on points these days as the taxes and points required have climbed steadily over the past few years.

SYD-HKG is still good value :) particularly if you just buy the points for a J trip

@ The Rok when flying direct to South Africa from Europe you dont have much choice - BA, VS or SAA (all as bad as each other) and VS in normally more reasonably priced hence the number of flights - I run my own company so cost is key

I'm another voice in the minority it seems. Have done VS 3 times in UC (SYD -HKG once and HKG - SYD twice). My first flight was a great experience - great crew, food ok, slept well. On this experience I booked again and had the opposite experience on the other 2 flights - bored, disinterested crew, bland, lukewarm food, seat/bed uncomfortable and was unable to sleep. Twice was enough for me, and I won't be going back unless there are no other options. I certainly wouldn't consider them for long haul to LHR. The planes are really starting to show their age. I enjoyed the HKG Clubhouse though.
