With the works on the Foxtrot pier, resurfacing of gates 8 and 10 on the Echo pier, there are simply limited spaces for terminating a/c.

For BD1959
They either moved or killed my thread. Specially for BD1959...
I worded it
VA PS welcone email received.
Welcome pack with new VR FF card cough VGS coming soon to me.
Same as your case. Eh?

Yup, sounds the same. Should be Gold by end of August.

MEL seem to be pretty keen to park aircraft on the taxi ways north of Rwy 27 because of the works. If there's any danger of there not being space for those last late arrivals, then why wouldn't VA park a couple there?

Maybe I've got it wrong, BoyZous, and I should think it totally acceptable to be waiting over 30mins for a Gate...at least the crew wouldn't have to apologise for the continued delay, broken tug etc.

So if we make PS today, 21 Jun, I thought that the count would start again, towards 20 Jun 2015 to keep Silver.
Never thought that with the cycle, indeed you would/could make Gold if you travel more.
I have some C & D classes of business coming up with NZ, so will be easy to keep PS for this upcoming year.
But with Tony Abbott making it harder to "go forward" (I have an ABN-re having to remit quarterly tax to the ATO-10%/15% of income), but am scared to make any more air travel - in case PMC at now $55, will keep going up, will it reach $70), that maybe, I will just stick with domestic travel from now on.
VA should have Silver +, ie, those who can't make it Gold, but with benefits than normal Silver.
Ok, anyway, good luck on aiming to achieve Gold.
I think PS will do me.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

A few facts;

-Melbourne Domestic Ramp is in-house, INTL ramp is handled by Aero-Care.
-Parking at MEL in general is very limited at the moment, Mon-Thurs overnight freighters take up large amounts of space and VA and TT have to share the F concourse together due to the removal of a TT bay (G3B). Currently the old JHAS hanger and parking space is off limits with only Jetcity having the rights to park aircraft there.
-Offloading via stairs of a night time especially on the E1-9 side is quite dangerous at night due to the proximity to D2-12, Corresponding jetblast from widebody aircraft on those bays HAS caused severe damage to aircraft and from an efficiency point of view it would be far easier to utilise the aerobridge to allow your priority bag to get to the carousel that little bit earlier. ;)

So, given the known limitations if the current works, CA could:

1. Decide it's all too hard with late night arrivals - jet blast, apron works, freight flights etc - and stop anything arriving after 9pm

2. Look at their own schedule, see how many flights are arriving at the scheduled time and move some empty, cold, overnighter to remote stands in time for the scheduled arrivals...it's not like these things suddenly appear out of the blue!! (or more like "ink" at that time of night).

My question is, move them to where?

Poochie, if you have an ABN and are silver, why aren't you doing the pilot gold thing? Then you only need to accrue 80 status credits in 3 months to hold gold for another 12 months

Lack of available gates still causing fun; VA694 from Perth sitting on apron at least 30 mins due to late arrival of previous A330 flight. It looks like only Gate 12 used for A330s at the moment

238 massive fail again tonight.

15min wait for Gate (already 40 mins late)

10 min wait for someone to stroll down and drive the aerobridge.

You guessed it: no rear door disembarkation.

No sign of checked bags at carousel despite being last off and a stop-off between gate and baggage claim. When bags did appear, mix of Priority and Non.

Such a Premium experience...

BD

The only premium experience I have rec'd on VA was the free upgrades when I was WP and of course the priority for screen and check in

as an SG it has been underwhelming.

That said QF is not that much better (at least domestically)
