VA marketed ANA Operated to Japan, any success with paid seat selection?

I am aware that seat selection isn't included for VA-marketed, ANA-operated codeshare flights to Japan. However, has anyone booked this codeshare and successfully used their ANA PNR on the ANA website/customer service to pay ANA directly for the advanced seat selection?

I'm Velocity Platinum and did the customer service dance. Reached out to VA who told me to contact ANA, and then ANA told me to contact VA.

Would love to know if anyone has actually managed this. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant you normally pay extra for the VA flight number (on ANA, NZ, QA metal vs paying direct) and then get less services, like can't pre select a seat, even for $, even as a WP.

To be fare, never had a problem choosing seats on ANZ with a VA flight number (biz class) and also the cost is more comparable between VA and NZ than others. I agree however it's hard with ANA (I also tried everything possible and the best I got from ANA (on phone) was a seat request for a couple (which worked) in biz. However heck, I even have difficulty in picking a seat on a QF flight in Biz from Brisbane to Perth (part of a through fare from Samoa). 🤔
