VA Lounge Guest Eligibility for VA Gold

Hi there!
Just a question regarding guest access into VA lounges. I am VA Gold, and flying VA Y next week. I will be with a friend who is not VA gold, do you know how strictly they enforce the guest-travelling policy? As my friend will not be travelling, will he be granted access with me?
Also i still have the 2 guest passes from silver, can they be used for anyone? A bit confused... Im thinking technically no but are they very strict?

Your guest does not have to be flying to enter to lounge.

They will most likely ask for your ticket only, or not even that just a glimpse of your card (or not even that sometimes, I've been allowed in to MEL with a confident nod and a smile with boarding pass in hand). At any rate, they'll let you both in regardless, as long as one of you are flying.

+1 - we get so many MEL Lounge eligibility questions and the answer is usually the same.

To extend on this question I am also Gold and have four single entry passes on my velocity account...

If I wanted to bring 5 people into the lounge I should be able to take +1 guest and use the +4 single entry passes all in one go?

I understand this is in the lounge rules
"4. During peak periods and when the lounge is at, or nearing capacity I acknowledge that priority will be given to Members with same day, onward travel on Virgin Australia, and that entry for Single Entry and complimentary or additional Guests may be restricted."

Yes, but only in extremely busy periods e.g. the Friday night of a long weekend.

I am unlikely to use all of them at once though, but at the moment I am heading towards Platinum which means if a lounge was quiet I could guest +3 under membership and +4 with the single entry passes, haha a group of 8! I'm never going to have 8 at once lol.
