Hi
Son is VA Gold and will be booking a 1 way flight from ABU to Sydney.

As VA don't allow for one way bookings from ABU to SYD he will have no choice but to book and fly with Etihad.

We're trying to establish what his baggage allowance will be when booking and flying with Etihad on EY metal.
Also not sure if his VA Gold complimentary allowance of additional 15kg is only when bookings are made with VA directly and travelling on codeshare EG: Etihad metal.

Etihad website says their economy baggage allowance is a total not exceeding 30kg.
Presume that means he can take 2 bags providing total weight does not exceed 30kg, please correct me if I'm wrong.

As he's a VA Gold, booking and travelling with Etihad on Etihad metal, does he still get the complimentary additional 15kg baggage allowance which is a VA gold benefit, on top of the 30kg Etihad allows.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
thank

As I understand it, that would be 45kg as VA SG with no single item to exceed 32kg.

Pretty sure TomVexille has it right - the only thing I'd add is that he should make sure he has his VA Gold card handy when checking in, as I don't believe EY's systems automatically recognise VA status.

thanks for the info. Already spoken to VFF about his card as it expires about 6 weeks before he flies home. He will requalify for gold (Via Companion gold from me), but taking into account the 1 month review timeframe before they post the new card and then me having to post it over to him he may not receive it before his flight home. He was advised he can request a 'status letter' from VFF when he is made Gold again which they will email to him so he can show it at checkin to Etihad. Was advised there is no guarantee that Etihad will accept it, but that maybe his only option.
