So, as of 5:55pm (AEDST) - this is what the flight status page shows for the next two SYD->BNE flights:
Apparently VA973 is "operating", even though it hasn't taken off (the in-terminal boards show that it has in fact been delayed to 6:20pm).
Also, VA977 is "on time", even though the page itself shows that it has been delayed almost half an hour?
Do the flight statuses get updated manually (not automatic based on actual/estimate flight time?).
