Hi - need some help please.... I'm a VA WP and have a lot of VA points. I have a UA FF but no miles or status. I and my wife are about to travel business class to new york on UA then onto europe and then home via singapore with LH. Would it be better to credit points/flights to my UA FF or keep them with VA? I'm thinking that trying to get some status on *A airline might be useful in the future, however now that UA are partnered with VA and I can use VA points on UA flights, crediting them to VA might be handy too. Is there anything else I should consider? thx.

I think crediting to VA offers the opportunity to earn a huge number of status credits....if you need them (family pooling etc). There was also an offer that you had to sign up to by some time in June (you may have) that would get you 70 bonus SC and 7000 miles for taking that business class flight on UA. Platinum earns 100% bonus miles (miles flown) for UA as well.

Other things to be aware of include that UA seems not to know who VA is...in terms of delivering advertised benefits for Golds and Plats. People are being charged for bags, not getting priority access, there is confusion about lounge access etc. However if your itinerary is in business this is probably of less concern to you.

UA all the way UA points far more valuable and low taxes and points never expire..... And if you have enough miles, why not try a non NTH AMERICA Star Airline like Aegean or Lufthansa or Turkish?

LH is not a VA freq flyer partner.-->Explore Velocity Partners

If any flights are code shares problematic crediting to VA. Likely to fail.

If you have an abundance of VA points & status, building stock on UA ffp, or another Star ffp, my be worthwhile
