VA DOM-INT Transfer at Brisbane

We can't let that stop us bagging Brisbane's separate domestic and international terminals !!
I don't let separate terminals sway my decision on connections.

I have been connecting through BNE for many years and doing so again in early July even though I work/live here. The connection itself is quite simple but it is other factors than one needs to be aware of to be safe. I am going back to SYD on a Friday night and have a ~2:30am flight BNE-SIN on Monday morning. Qantas have a late flight Sunday night SYD-BNE that gets into BNE at 9:30pm but I have chosen the 6:00pm SYD-BNE flight just in case the last flight of the night is cancelled and I am left stranded. I can spend the few extra hours in the lounge or go into BNE for a few hours.

This is where I've made my error. Live and learn.

Just wanted to highlight that Virgin is offering SYD-BNE-LAX itineraries with a connection time of one hour and 20 minutes. This does seem rather short? The MEL-BNE-LAX example from the OP was one hour and 40 minutes.
To those who have done the DOM-INT transfer at Brisbane, does this seem unrealistic? Also, does being on a Saturday help with the transfer time given there may be fewer people? I am interested in your thoughts.

Im sure it can be done but I wouldnt want to do it.

Last time we had a SYD>BNE>LAX transit, I moved my SYD>BNE flight to an earlier flight to save both myself and my husband the stress.

I had a similar QF DOM-INT transfer (SYD-BNE-HKG) of 1hr 20min - rang QF and was told MTT is 1hr 15min - still felt a little uneasy (lots of fog in BNE lately) and changed to earlier flight with 1hr 50min transfer - would rather be safe than sorry - will know if I did the right thing in a couple of weeks.

I think 1 hr 20 mins is doable if it is DOM to INT and not other way around.

I have seen VA crew hurry up the PAX off the plane so that they can connect. Taxi as the worst case scenario should help.

Rather than starting a new thread, I figured I'd post this question here....Am flying J PER-AKL via MEL....the MEL-AKL sector is on a NZ A320, so Y only...Question, will Perth be able to give me an Express Path pass for MEL to dodge the queues? or will I need to collect one at MEL (if allowed?). Will be transiting MEL ~1730 on a Monday, so assume it will be quite busy.
