Using points to book return fare... with someone not using points...

One more question from my other post,
my wife and I want to book a return flight to the states. I have enough points for 1 return fare. If I book a reward economy seat with my points, and book a normal seat for my wife, is there any problem checking in and sitting together?
We both want to also pay the upgrade to an aisle seat....
Anyone had experience with this?
