can anyone tell me if it's possible to book a flight (using American ff Miles) from Melbourne to New York, but incorporating a stopovever in Los Angeles for 11 days

As Melbourne to LAX and Melbourne to New York use the same amount of miles, it would obviously be much more beneficial to be able to 'stopover'

or, am I forced to book them in separate segments- ie: MEL-LAX and eleven days later, LAX-JFK

thank you in advance

Two awards. No stopovers on AA's awards.

Happy wandering

another question about using American Miles

I have been using American Miles for a couple of years now but they were all fairly simple

my trip in 2016 is a little more complex.

Am I better to book each segment as it comes up in business award (IF indeed it does come up) and hope for the best for the return flights?

thanks in advance

Re: another question about using American Miles

With American, it does not cost any more (than return) to book award flights as one-way. So yes, I would suggest booking each segment if/when availability becomes available.

I would be careful though with routes where availability is rare, as there is a risk that the return flights may not actually appear, e.g. on Australia-USA flights. If no availability appears later on for the return flights, and you decide to cancel, I think it's a US$150 fee to have the miles reinstated.

Are you looking at any particular route?

OK. That's a very difficult route to find availability on (especially in Business). If you're lucky enough to find a seat, then I'd book it - but only if you're prepared to risk not finding a seat for the return leg.
