Hi,
I am going through HKG from Amsterdam to Adelaide but have a prolonged stopover, getting into HKG in the morning and leaving in the evening.
Am currently QF SG and flying CX business class.
Can I use the airside lounge (pier/wing) for a shower and breakfast before leaving HKG airport to spend some time in the city? I know I probably don't qualify for the arrival landside lounge:(
Thanks in advance for any advice

As you have no doubt read, you have to be travelling F or be QF WP to get in the arrival lounge. I'm not sure that you can enter the airside lounges before leaving the airport though.

You'd probably be better off to find a pay-in lounge after you've cleared customs, such as the Plaza Premium Arrival Lounge. You'll be able to get a shower there and breakfast I guess, then take the Airport Express right into town.

I don't know by maybe because your flying CX J you could be able to use the arrivals lounge. I could not find the answer on a 2 second look at the CX web site but maybe somebody else here knows.

Definitely not able to use the Arrivals lounge (see Cathay Pacific -), but HKG is also a closed airport where arrivals and departures are segregated. If you have a boarding pass for the HKG-ADL sector, then you can get back into the departures area to go and use the lounge, but if you wanted to then leave the airport to go and have a look around, you would need to be "decontrolled", and I've no idea about that part.

I think samh004's idea is probably best, and I sure wouldn't waste a whole day just sitting around HKG airport!

Several people have reported being able to do this. They have arrived into HKG and either already in possession of their onward boarding pass or collect the onward boarding pass at the Transfer desk at HKG arrivals. Then through security screening and up to the departures level and to the lounge. They have then had the lounge staff arrange an exit for them back to the arrivals level and immigration for entry onto Hong Kong for a few hours before returning to the airport.

As far as I can remember, they have all been using the First Lounge (The Wing I expect) when making these arrangements, but if it can be done at the FLounge, then I see no reason why the J Lounge staff cannot make the same arrangements. I believe you need someone to escort you back to the arrivals area.
