Hi All

Well after countless hours of research here on AFF I think I have decided what I am doing next year for my 50th birthday, my wife's 50th birthday and my daughters 21st birthday.

I have approx 380000 QFF points and will be booking 3 JASA flights PER - LAX. I will also be signing up to do a platinum challenge with AA at the same time for all 3 PAX which should give us all platinum membership with AA almost as soon as we arrive in the US. We plan to do Vegas, New York, Miami and The Carribean, Mexico and Hawaii probably on AA metal booked as and when specials come up. For our return I am planning on using either USD miles or Lifemiles and will purchases these once again as and when specials come up.

Would appreciate any advice that the more knowledgeable members on here could pass on as to what may be a better scenario???

Regards
Joe

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Major problems.
1-getting 3 JASAs to LAX at minimum points basically is not going to happen especially as the redemption window for awards in August 2013 opened a month ago.
2.you dont earn AA miles on JASAs plus for the AA challenge it must be the AA codeshare which cant be used for JASAs.

So look at trying to get your JASAs on the flight back.Still going to be very difficult.

PS-just did a check but using mrsdrron's plat account and you can get 3 JASAs PER-LAX on aug 6th for 336000 points +$1880.
But for example 2 days later a JASA for 1 was showing the same points for 1 person as the 6th but when you dialled up 2 pax the points needed went to over 1 million.
So better get your dates and book no later than this weekend if you want those 3 JASAs but as I said they are useless for the AA plat challenge.

Hi Drron, Serfty

Was looking to go in mid August 2013, and have been checking Qantas daily to see availability. But now that the JASA's dont qualify for the platinum challenge, I have started looking at using Lifemiles and flying UA J class. Works out cheaper buying points at the 100% bonus at the moment than using QFF points. With the new tie up between Qantas and Emirates It's great news for Perth people IMO. I'll save the QFF points for a Europe trip later on.

Thanks and regards
Joe
