Hi,

I'm planning a family trip to the US in October SYD -> LV -> NY -> HNL -> SYD and I was hoping to use some of my amex points to fund this trip. I have about 240,000 amex points. I'm a complete newbie, and feel like I'm going round in circles.

Option 1:
I was going to use webjet.com.au, but it was mentioned on this forum that this wasn't the best "burn" for my points. I think I would have $2400 to use and I could use any airline/fares available on the site.

Option 2:
Since I'm taking my 3 and 1 year old with me and because I wanted to finish off the trip in Hawaii, a friend mentioned that Hawaiian Airlines are pretty good with kids. So, should I transfer my points to Velocity which links to Hawaiian Air and at least fund 2 adults to SYD -> LV -> HNL -> SYD? On the website you need to call up to do this, is it easy to do? I would then buy a return flight LV -> NY separately.

Option 4:
Wait for a jetstar deal to hawaii, then use the points to fund HNL -> LV -> NY -> HNL?

Option 5:
Use the points for hotel stays by transferring to Amex hotel partners.

Option 6:
Use the points to upgrade my seats

Option 7:
Save points for another trip, although I don't envisage one for a while.

As you can see I have a lot of things going in my head, as soon as I start to research one option, I read something else and go off into another direction. Perhaps if an expert could tell me which option is the best one, I could research further into it and make a decision.

Thanks so much in advance for any help
Len

Since it's my first time doing this, I'll go with option 1 and transfer my amex points to webjet to buy my tix, any advice though would be appreciated
