A couple of excellent J fares here to.

I did MEL-LHR/FRA-MEL and got $4699 as the price ($300 below list). This gets into PE economy prices and has a large range of dates available.

Pretty decent fare for a decent airline. You probably can earn Velocity points on this fare too!

Hmm the flight time out of BNE to istanbul are awful! Also when I try to book for returning on 19/9/11, it defaults to the 10th and won't change it.

But then it comes back with a quote of almost $7k for economy :shock:

Ummm might let the gremlins get worked out before I try that again.

Saw this exciting deal yesterday, with my travel plans for 2011 fully planned, I was looking for flights to Europe both for myself and my folks for 2012.

Got myself SYD<=>FRA in March 2012 for AUD 12XX p.p. return all inclusive, very happy. :)

Got my folks MEL<=>LHR also in March 2012 for AUD 12XX p.p. return all inclusive as well, this will be their first trip to Europe....

With the new MH website, I am not sure how you can view the prices for +/- 7 days all at once... so it is relatively hard for hunt for good prices, compare with the previous version of the website...

I have never seen full service AUS<=>Europe this cheap, 12XX is much much cheaper than even AirAsia X !

Remember this deal is for minimum 10 days stay.....
Because of the "issue" I mentioned before, you will need to do a lot of searches to find the cheapest fares...

This sale is brilliant! Scored SYD-CDG return for $4740 in business! Plenty of dates available.

These MH fares are not quite as good as those out of LHR. GBP 305 LHR-KUL R/T.

All gone, I'm afraid, but I did manage to snag one.

Makes fares out of Oz look positively expensive (which they really are).

Hi All, tried a lot of dates and had no special fares came up. All fares returned at $2500+. Has anybody booked an eco fare at $1299?

This Sale is downright misleading.

Advertises flights 'Brisbane to Los Angeles' from $1299, although you cannot book from BNE to any US airport using the website.

Deceiving.

Most $1299 fares up til end Sep have pretty much gone. Still available for travel in Feb/Mar next when I checked yesterday.
Snagged myself business class fares of $4700-4800 from SYD to CDG return for August and November. Also scored 1-way business class fare from KUL to SYD in March next year for only A$1350. :D Hopefully, there'll be another sale later on in the year so I can get to KUL in business from SYD in March. ;)

As for the USA (from Oz) specials, you'll need to ring them or go through a travel agent to get them from cities other than SYD.

It would be deceiving if the website was the only means of booking the flight, however from the add I can see it quite clearly states to contact your travel agent, call MH or look online.

Very true.

Thats true, I withdraw my misleading comment then.
Silly that all flights aren't available for viewing/booking online.

I did call them, was on hold for 35 minutes before even talking to an agent, so I gave up.

I've been having problems with their call centre too lately. When I went in to their ticket office in Sydney (which has now moved to the international airport), the poor guy at the desk said that they've been having problems with it too. When I tried calling the last 2 times, I was left on hold for over 30 minutes (and this is using the First/Business class option)! First time I gave up coz I had to go somewhere but I persisted at my 2nd attempt and eventually got through after 35 minutes.
Tip: the best time to call the service centre is on Sunday mornings. My friend rang them at about 8am and got through immediately! In my past experiences, Sunday mornings have been the best time to call.

The problem with not being able to view all possible flight connections (like BNE to LAX, which is not a usual flight itinerary for them) is due to the incompetent IT department at MH (which is based in Malaysia)! There are still bugs in the website and booking system after the website was "upgraded" at the beginning of February this year! You couldn't even make an online booking through their website from Australia for a whle month. If that doesn't spell incompetence, then I don't know what does!!

I booked Business Class flights to Europe using my Amex Travel Agent. Many thousands of dollars cheaper than anything else on the market. The online booking engine did not appear to allow Frequent Flyer membership points earning - other than Enrich.
My Travel Agent managed the entire process over the phone.

Wonderful, isn't it, getting a business class fare for that price (and on a reputable airline too)? If you have a different FF number that you want to put into your reservation, you have to call their service centre so they can manually put it in. Another piece of evidence for the incompetence of the MAS IT department. Whilst I'm on that issue, you can only look at your bookings online if you've booked the flights online. Even if your Enrich number is in your booking but you didn't book it online, you won't be able to see it through their "manage booking" engine on their website. I really don't think it's that hard to fix up stuff like that. Mind you, I'm not an IT person...

Also depends on departure point. I purchased online but cannot view through manage bookings as my departure point is Siem Reap :(

Also had this problem - 22 minutes on hold on Tuesday before I hung up. Wednesday about 15 minutes and gave up again. Both times through first/business option. Today I called and was only on hold for about 3 minutes. They fixed my issues and attached my Velocity number to my ticket. Friendly and efficient.

I very nearly bought two returns to London for next year for my mother and I (alas, was looking at Y as two tickets :( ) but forgot as I have been busy this week (funeral and the like) and once I remembered, prices are back to normal ...d'oh!

Fingers crossed for another sale some time in the next 6 months...

Oh no! Don't you just hate that? I don't know if we'll ever get to see another business class sale like that again...

Anyway, MAS have just released a sale for travel from Australia to SEA. You can get return business class tickets from any Australian city to Singapore/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia/Myanmar/Phillippines (but not Malaysia) for $2400 return (taxes included) for travel up to April 15 next year! Economy tickets are only $599 and this includes flights to Malaysia!!
Sale starts May 20 and ends May 30.
