Upgrading flight & earning points question

Hi all,

Fairly straight forward question, if you purchase a paid ticket, then upgrade using points to a higher cabin, you will still earn points/status credits of the originally booked cabin/ticket class.

Is is that correct?

Correct

Some have been lucky to score points & SCs applicable to the higher class but that is an error.
