Hi everyone,

I have searched through the many posts on eligible sectors but none answer my question.

My husband is currently gold, and his review date is January 2018. I notice on his velocity account last week that he only needed to earn 120 sc to reach platinum by the 6th of August. He ended up booking a trip to qld earlier than he was going to, to ensure he got these sc in time. He now has over the 1000 required status credits however he still has one eligible sector fly before he can reach platinum.

My question is: did he need to fly this eligible sector before August 6th just as his status credits needed to, or does he just need to make sure he flies one more time before his membership review date in January?

Thank you in advance!

How did he earn the 1000 SC's without the sectors flown? Also, this will depend on what points were lost after 6th August.

You need to have both the SC balance and eligible sectors to reach platinum.

The only thing you need to ensure is that you have no SC dropping off ( they only last for 1 year ) by the time you fly the last sector ( before January )..

If you reach 1000 SC and 8 sectors before January, that day becomes your new review date.

So if you meet requirements on 10 November 2017. You new review date will be 10 November 2018

I have done it on Delta.. Over 800 SC so far for maintaining, but only flown 3 of 8 sectors on VA

Thanks for your replies! It never ceases to amaze me how quickly you get a response here.

he made the 1000sc by x2 overseas business class and a couple of trips to the Gold Coast. I also pooled some points.

Im So confused, because it said he needed to reach the 1000sc before August 6th and I assumed he must have had some status credits expiring after this date. However I just checked and he definitely doesn't have any sc expiring until October. He didn't fly at all between him reaching gold in January and a trip to QLD in Oct.

My understanding was that you only had to make sure you got the 1000sc achieved before any sc you had began to expire. Then, if you reached 1000 you only had to make sure you flew 8 sectors before your membership review date.

so he does have some sc expiring in October, so if he flies a sector before Oct he should reach platinum?

I also just phoned velocity amd she said he had to get the 1000sc AND fly the 8 sectors by Aug 6th. She wasn't able to log into his account as he is at work, but I don't understand why he had to achieve this by august 6th if he doesn't have any SC expiring until October. He literally didn't fly at all between Jan and Oct last year.

I appreciate your time.

Sorry if I have confused the situation. I will hopefully clarify.

The requirement is to earn 1000 SC and fly 8 sectors for Platinum.

When logging in to your velocity account you should see something like this. ( This is for re qualify so slightly different to what you would see )

It is quite clear what you need to earn and by when..

The only thing I am unclear from your query is where 6 August comes from ??

I looked at that exact table and It said he needed to earn 140sc by the 6th of August. Your right, That table is quite clear on what you need earn and by when and Ive never had any trouble understanding it before. I am also unclear on "The 6th of August " as he earnt Gold in January 2017 and doesn't have any SC expiring until October 2017. The only activity I can see on the 6th of August was he pooled some points to me, but that doesn't count as his SC if he pooled them to me.

My understanding is, if he has earnt 1000SC in the last year (which he has) and he hasn't got any SC expiring until October, he should be able to fly one more sector before October to earn Platinum. I have no idea where this 6th of August came from.

I will however keep the post updated once he has phoned velocity himself.

thanks,
