As per topic. Got emailed this offer and am tempted (1100 USD = 1353 AUD).

I upgraded DXB>FRA to business on the way out on points only (32,500).

I'm assuming there is no way I can use my remaining 13,650 Skywards miles towards the cost of this upgrade?

I'd be more tempted if I'd accrue full business miles on the $1100 upgrade, but the email says "Skywards Miles will accrue at the original ticketed rate" :(

If I don't upgrade, at least I still have access to the DCA lounge in Dubai through ANZ Frequent Flier Black.

Guessing it's not as nice as the Emirates business lounge... Any way to get in if you're not actually flying business?

Data point: my recent (EY) AUH to MEL flight had a Y to J upgrade offer of USD 1250 so your amount is ballpark for that leg.

If you are interested, I didn't take it and instead changed flights to the VA departing at about the same time after checking with VA that a points upgrade seat was avail.
