I went to the UA website to check on my system upgrades, and could no longer find the link to see how many I had left.

Normally when they expire they convert to points. Looking at my last printed statement I had 4 to expire in Nov 07 and 4 expiring in Dec 07.

Looking at my online statement I can not see that they have converted to miles, and for that matter could not even find the upgrade summary...

When you are viewing "my mileage summary", on the left of the page click under "Related Links", click on "E-upgrade summary".

At the bottom of the page under the heading of "Review Account Activity", tick the relevent boxes, fill-in the required date range and then click on "view".

You should visit the FT United Mileage Plus forum more often ...

I may have some bad news for you:
Expired Upgrades
500-mile E-Upgrades expiring on or after June 1, 2007 will not be converted to miles.

More here on an extensive thread:

A bit more on this.

United decided to allow Global Service, 1K, Premier Executive Members members and international customers a one-off facility to allow ongoing conversion of e-upgrades to points.
  • Registration was required to take advantage of this limited-time offer.
  • Such registration was required by August 15, 2007.
Yes, I took advantage of this offer, it works just fine.

I am really quite annoyed that I didn't know about that... that's what happens when you take your finger off the pulse for a bit.

How was the official notice sent to advise this, or was it just a matter of "we changed the terms, you didn't get told, so too bad"?

Cheers

Hi wallace, I only found out about this through reading posts at Flyertalk. Otherwise I'd be in the same position as you. UA does not communicate with (or acknowledge) its foreign MP members IMHO.

My advice is to check the UA forum at Flyertalk at least once a week, or you may miss out on something good (or bad for that matter).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
