I was snooping around the United Airlines website, practicing looking for award availability 
, and came across their new discount promo. Up to 40% off from December 5 to 22 (US central time). The award seats I was looking at were from somewhere in Asia (SIN, ICN, HKG) to SFO or LAX. They were in the order of 88,000 miles plus taxes one way in J. Buying 88,000 miles at the moment nets the largest discount of 40% so would be only $1986.60 USD or ~$2964 AUD (ouch!). But considering the same flight would cost about $7500 AUD it seems like good value. UA miles don't expire which is a bonus.
Anyone buying miles or have any advice or thoughts on the offer?
