UberX Rides Are Now 10% Cheaper During Winter

Today, we’re dropping uberX prices by a further 10% to make getting around Sydney more affordable than ever before.
These prices are seasonal, and will be in effect until August 2.

This means you could be paying up to 50% less than a taxi in Sydney

Interesting to note that their mean pickup time is now less than 5mins whilst a taxi is 10

Looks like the minimum fare has now dropped to $6 which is the same as MEL:

Base Fare $2.50
Per Min $0.35
Per KM $1.30

10% drop in Brisbane and the Gold Coast as well. Not that they needed to drop the price to keep me as a customer.

It will be interesting to see what boost in customers they see and whether it affects driver numbers. From the drivers' perspective, the value proposition looks pretty poor to me and this (and collecting and paying GST) can only make it worse.
