United Airlines to operate Daily Non-Stop Flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles

I guess most of us will have had the official email announcement of the service in our inboxes this morning? Here's the link to the details on the website. Ouch at those fares! (Just demonstrates how much of a cash-cow transpac routes are.)

The service equipment is 747-400 and apparently new configuration (business)! (Economy remains the same old ****, of course.)

Sydney services during the same period are showing (on the days I checked) old config, so perhaps Melbourne, for once, is getting the perks.

How do you work out with United flights have the new business class?

The seatmaps during a dummy booking MEL-LAX-MEL correspond with the new configuration, whereas the SYD flights show the old config.
