[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]To ensure that Mileage Plus miles earned toward award travel on United and elite status are aligned with actual miles flown, we are revising our base accrual policy. Effective July 1, 2008, all travel on United, United Express, Ted, Star Alliance and partner airline* flights credited to the Mileage Plus Program will accrue actual miles, with no minimum. This change affects only those flights that are less than 500 miles. Flights greater than 500 miles have always accrued actual miles, and are not affected by this policy change.[/FONT]

I betcha our friends in Mascot are keeping an eye on how this is going, certainly looks like an enhancement that might be of interest to them....

That would be a bit hypocritical of them as every ad they run lists one of the benefits of travelling with them as "minimum 1000 points"!

Not very good news for any UA members travelling short haul. Even less incentive to join the UA MP program.

That would not be a very desirable enhancement. Minimum point guarantee is one of the reasons I have stayed loyal to QF for domestic travel. If there was a change of this magnitude then there are other alternatives and most people would be better off.

I agree that MP is going to the dogs, even more so if you're not a US resident (eg, look at the Double EQM promo, foreigners not allowed).

I wouldn't be surprised if UA is cutting the 500 miles minimum to compensate for all the EQM's given away in the current DEQM promo.

UA seems to be all over the place (but maybe not surprising when you consider that the CEO is an Oilman with no airline experience).

It effects some people considerably more than others. When in Perth, had very little effect on me, but I have certainly had a few 1000 mile guarantee sectors on this side of the country

I feel that the 1,000 point minimum discriminates against us in the West.
