UA 767 Leaking Fuel Before Take-off

Happy that this situation did get any worse. Reads like UA staff didn't handle the situation well and didn't look after the couple who spotted the issue as they should have.

That’s when she saw liquid suddenly flowing out of the 767’s left wing.

I'm assuming that the fuel was coming out of the pipe where aircraft would dump fuel when required.
 
It's a good thing the passengers persisted in their efforts to alert the crew - despite being 'yelled at' to sit down. How the cabin crew are able to determine 'everything is normal' without actually knowing, or looking, is of concern. Although thankfully it turned out ok in the end.
 
Yes I think that this might be the take away lesson - if something looks wrong, bring it to the attention of the cabin crew.
