I'm not platinum so can't call up to get award seats released but does anyone know if more seats get released?

$381 each for Mel - Per in economy when I could use my qantas points or buy AA miles that would cost $460US for Business.

So expensive especially when I need to book for 2 of us.

Just don't know whether to book cash fares in economy or wait and see closer if seats get released. Flightstats show plenty of availability in J at the moment.

I considered tiger for $250 each but that thought lasted all of 5 seconds....

I don't think there's a hard and fast rule on whether new award seats become available closer to departure. I happen to think they do but it depends on loads, of course.

Have you considered a Jetstar price beat against Tiger?

AA miles are definitely something to invest in.

As I was saying to my husband i think I'm just spoilt from AFF teaching me all the tricks!!

Normally I would just book economy seats but now I say to myself why would I pay $380 economy when I can pay around $500 to fly business!

Just got to find those award seats though....

Well a success story...2 J seats just became available on the last flight out of Mel to Perth on the Sunday I needed!

Pays to hang in there and keep checking religiously!!

AA miles posted already having only bought them yesterday so I've paid for flights going over and just purchased more miles for coming home!

Should have bought the 70,000 miles all together though as would have got the max 25% discount but oh well!
