Hi
Just planning a trip to Brighton England and looking at the Hilton Metropole and can see these two rooms:

DOUBLE HILTON DELUXE PLUS GBP219

Soak up the sea view from this spacious room with a seating area and a large bathroom. The stylish room has 1 king bed. Get to work at the desk or surf the web with wireless high-speed internet. Sleeps 2 adults.

KING HILTON DELUXE PLUS GBP152

Soak up the city view from this bright and airy room with a seating area with sofa and a large bathroom. The contemporary room has 1 king bed. Get to work at the desk or surf the web with wireless high-speed internet access. Sleeps 2 adults.

Now apart from the sofa - am I missing a difference here?

Also I could just go a DOUBLE GUEST and expect to get a decent room upgrade:

Feel at home in this comfortable and relaxing room. The contemporary room has 1 double or 1 king bed. Get to work at the desk and check your emails with wireless high-speed internet access. Sleeps 2 adults. GBP124

Any thoughts? I certainly wont be paying GBP219- just not sure whether to go the GBP124...

I've stayed at the Metropole the last time I was in Brighton and it's a nice old hotel with plenty of charm. In the English tradition the rooms are a little dark but the sea view rooms have large windows which when the weather is nice (I was there in the cold & rain of early spring). I wouldn't say that the ocean view is worth the extra money though.

The Double room at GBP219 is stylish whilst the King is only contemporary!!! (oh and the sea/city view thingy!) I have been seeing similar results. I have 21 bookings with Hilton in the UK coming up. (Various locations.) So far this year I have found that booking the lowest rate double has got me either a "deluxe" double or "deluxe" queen.

On Saturday I'll be staying in a "superior" double at a Holiday Inn in Sao Paulo where the only superior thing seems to be that the room is on a higher floor!!!

I blame the marketing peeps!

I was not expecting to find anyone who had stayed there!!!

I know there is no lounge but do you know if they give any comp drinks etc. to Gold/Diamond?

I think I got a complimentary bottle of water and a couple of pieces of fruit - but that was only as a Silver at the time.

I went back and dug out my booking and I booked the Double Hilton Deluxe Plus for £139.20/night - and I actually stayed there in Nov 2010 - which explains the rain but it doesn't feel like that long ago :)
