Hi All,

I doing my first DONE4 at the end of the year where I'm crediting everything to QF. I estimate my status should be upgraded sometime during the trip.

I'm hoping I'd get to enjoy the OWE benefits soon after I reach the status during the trip, but suspect it'd be dependent on the speed of updates between QF and other OW members. I'm wondering:

  1. how fast (or slow) does it take for flights to "register" between OW? i.e. when I fly MA/IB/AA/BA/CX, when would the QF system know about it?
  2. Once QF registers it and my OW status changed, how fast (or slow) does the other OW carriers see my new status?

Thanks!

Depends is the best answer I can give!

Some carriers credit quickly. Qantas normally does, as does British Airways (I think). Other airlines take up to a week or more to credit, as they batch them up and submit them once per week.

Once Qantas knows you've reached the next level, they'll upgrade your status at latest overnight. However, your booking will probably still show your old level.

When your status shows QF Platinum on the Qantas site, make a print-out and attempt to use that to enter your lounges etc. If refused, then try and get them to call the OneWorld helpdesk part of their airline to confirm your status.

You could also attempt to get Qantas to fax you confirmation of your upgraded status.

And if you want to get the status updated on all your remaining legs get them to remove your FF number and re-add it. It will them show OWE / QF Platinum :)
As a general rule i find BA good... CX a bit slow. The others i have not had much recent expereince.

IME....
AA -> AA: around 3-4 days.
BA -> AA : usually 4 days.
QF -> AA : 3-4 days but have had QF flights credited in 2 days (though on the ex-NRT DONE4 i had to request manual credit for every single QF segment for some reason; i thought the reissue process was a bit suspect as neither could i OLCI for BA flight and the CX agent at AKL hmmed and hawed a little at my ticket and had to reenter the ticket number into my PNR)
JL -> AA: usually more than a week, 8-9 days
CX -> AA: depends on when you fly, as noted above CX flights post once a week and for me iit's usually on a Saturday
