Hi All,

May I seek assistance to guide a novice BC traveller, I have a few questions that you may be able to help me (and hopefully others) with.

Apologies in advance for the long email, with many questions.. Hopefully someone can help with some of them
😊

Multi Leg Trip:
A: Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur (Economy - Batik Air M class) – 7 hour layover
B: KL to Istanbul (Business – Turkish J class) - 11 hour layover
C: Istanbul to Copenhagen (Business – Turkish J class)
D: Zurich to Singapore (Business – Turkish J class) - 11 hour layover; and finally,
E: Singapore to Brisbane “I” class).
1/ #A – We will do a city sightseeing, are we entitled to free Transfers from City to Airport, and the lounge? (if so, how to we arrange transfers, and what lounge is included?)
2/ #B – How to we book the FREE ½ day tour in Istanbul?
3/ #C – Does Turkish Airlines provide free concierge transfers from airport to Hotel in Copenhagen?
4/ #D - Does Turkish Airlines provide free concierge transfers from airport to Accommodation in Switzerland to Airport? And what lounge is available in Zurich airport?
5/ #E – Does a Qantas “I” Class Business ticket provide free concierge/transfers from Brisbane airport to residential locations?

I sincerely appreciate anyone’s assistance.

And Happy New Year !!

I just googled! ‘free half day tour turkish airlines istanbul’ lol

i don’t know how current or accurate the page is
Yes that is correct.. I have found out that you go to their desk and register 30 mins before that tour.. And they provide free transfers to and from tour (inc lunch)..

Thank you.

Some answers:
1. I’m not aware of any free tour for KUL. You can just catch the Airport Express train to and from the city and I believe it takes about 45 mins.
On return to KUL, look up what *A lounges are available using the Lounge Finder: https://www.staralliance.com/en/lounge-finder

2. Touristanbul info as provided above. Note that you and any other travellers with you, will need to get a Turkish Visa (maybe USD50-60 pp) to enter the country to get to the desk. https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/apply/
The tour / hotel desk is landside.
Same if you were to choose the free hotel for the layover.
There is a hotel airside in IST called YOTEL ISTR but it was expensive when I stayed there.

3 - 5. As advised above: no free concierge transfers anywhere.

Also note that Batik will not likely be able to give you your boarding passes for onwards flights, so you’ll probably need to get them from TK once in KUL. I don’t know how you do that, or if there is a transfer desk. If you’re going into the city of KL I guess you just get them from the TK check in desks when you get back to KUL.
Does / can Batik check your luggage through to final destination or will they only check it to KUL?

Getting a visa for Turkie is very easy, on-line, but there is a fee, of course but maybe you do the tour without a visa - you don't get off the bus. If you end up not doing the tour, and go into the city independently, its very easy by taxi (don't take the metro!!) and I would recommend you do a hamam, and this one in particular:

The J lounge at IST is HUGE, as is the airport in general. There are 'sleeper/relaxer' area in the lounge, and lockers you can put your carry-on if you want to explore.

Again, on a tour you will be shepherded into a separate entrance, but if you arrive back independently, you use door 5 and a very nice check-in experience awaits. Some pics and commentary here:

When you check in at Batik Air in Australia, you are given all boarding passes to your final destination. You bags will be checked through to your final destination.

As everyone else had advised, no free transfers anywhere.

At least with a 7-hour layover in KUL, you should avoid late arrival problems. Completely agree the very easy to use train into the city is the way to go. Credit card is accepted when buying the ticket.

My flight into IST did not work out for either the half day or full day tour, especially as leaving the airport then needed extra time to return through security. Definitely the US$60 visa is required if leaving the airport to go on a tour.

I did use the YOTEL airside hotel. It was excellent and well worth it for four hours sleep and a nice shower.

The IST lounge was very good. No USB ports, so take an adapter to plug into one of the many power points if you need to charge appliances.

Lucky you, @uqgbond1 to be flying QF SIN-BNE instead of Batik. You will need to go to the transfer desk in SIN for your boarding pass, but your luggage will be checked through.
