Curiously we have TSA Prechk printed on our boarding passes yet we haven’t applied for this. It means we don’t have to do any of the usuals in the US - shoes, jackets, watches, belts liquids, laptops etc to pass through screening. Today in Flagstaff we were given a red token to carry us through.

Any ideas?

drron got me sorted. AA and One World Emerald. Nice perk.

Stand down everyone.

Very random in my experience.
My average was only about 1:4 flights

Edit: if it’s now gone to 100% then that’s great news

Yes, it used to be common for OW Emeralds, then got very rare as I think AA or someone didn't want to pay (for the TSA security lane access). Is it 'back' @drron ?
We both got it today for Flagstaff - Phoenix - Vancouver. Q WP in Y. Made security check a breeze. Everyone else had to go through the Body X-ray but they opened up the doorway for us. Speshul.

Pre Check would come and go on my and hubbys boarding passes each flight. All flights were in their version of F but some flights I had it but he didnt, others he had it but I didnt and some we both had pre check. (we're both VA WP and flying Delta/partner airline).

Had precheck and still got a full body pat down including my cough that moved me to the top of my toes as it was so intrusive and Im still slightly traumatised by.

Doesn’t necessarily relate to status. Never had it as OWE but my mum would get it for being over a certain age (and she’s has no status).

We qualify on both points :p;) But there were others older than us who had to get “undressed”.

Just waiting for more reports about this being a regular benefit now

Well that’s great news. :D

I don’t plan on any U.S.A. travel until next year, but will be looking forward to this as I would qualify on both counts.

As I’ve posted earlier, in the past TSA Pre was always very random for me.

Edit: As long as I don’t get the dreaded SSSS, instead. :(

I've been OWE for over a dozen years and have travelled extensively throughout USA on AA..... I reckon I can count on one hand how many times I've seen "pre-check" on my BP. Other members of my family old and young get it all the time.

Has nothing to do with status IME.

Well clearly USA immigration are far better judges of character than all of you would have us believe.:oops::):p

It was discount Y ticket but we then added ‘seat extra’.

Going O/T here: Some wonderful scenery along the road between Flagstaff and Phoenix. That section is only about 230km/2hr45mins straight driving. Less than SYD-CBR.

I drove that several years ago, but starting in Phoenix, heading north. The first 100km+ there's nothing much to see, then it all changes once you take the Sedona turn-off. Stopped for two nights in Sedona. Great red-rock country with amazing views in the National Park; 800 year-old cliff dwellings. Then through Flagstaff to Monument Valley. Then a couple of days later continued on to Denver.

Sedona is well worth the road trip for those with some time to spare.
