Trying to get to Cartagena ( Columbia)

Hi

Trying to help my best mate get to his Sisters wedding later this year and return.

Leaving and return to ADL

leaving ADL around the 8th December 2012
Returning to ADL around the 20th December 2012

Best i can find is around 4.5K return, but it seems a little on the high side ( i could be totally wrong) '

can anyone give me some ideas or suggest itinerary that might work and be at a better cost

Maybe try for a QF sale fare ADL-SYD-DFW and then use Spirit DFW-MIA-CTG (just watch out for all the LCC conditions though).

I suggest booking the Australia-LAX on whaatever special is available from whatever airline, and getting the LAX-CTG part on a seperate ticket with American Airlines. For your 4.5K quote you could do this with the US-Colombia sectors in Business/Domestic First.

CTG-PTY-LAX-SYD on Copa then UA.

$3000, dep Dec 7, ret Dec 19.

There's a number of options $2900-$3000. Most involve UA+Copa.

Even with school hols / xmas you should get ADL-SYD return for <$1500!

It would seem if your friend can leave a day or two earlier he may be leaving before "school holiday fares" hit the market and thus it would save some money to leave eg. 6th (Thursday) rather than 8th (Saturday).

I'm seeing about $3K looking on Skyscanner at ADL-SYD-LAX on QF or VA then LAX -SJO-BOG-CTG (searched separately - its too obscure to find 1 itinerary).

It's the MEL/SYD-LAX thats the killer on price - twice as expensive in December as it is in low season.

Anyway you decide to go its likely to be a lonnnng trip. If you are shelling out this sort of money I would definitely make sure you fly VA or QF across the pacific rather than Delta or United (even if it means paying a few hundred $$$ more - otherwise a long trip will feel even longer!
