Hi All,

I am attempting to research flight costs etc for a hopeful ski trip to Japan (Niseko/ Furano but who knows yet) in early 2014. As I assume a lot of you do the moment a holiday is suggested the first place to go is various airline websites. Now although I can’t actually fathom flying Jetstar I am probably travelling with some uni students and as cheep = good there is a fair chance I or some travelling companions may resort to this.

Anyhow on the Jetstar website if I choose to look for flights from Adelaide I can’t choose any Japanese destination but I can choose other flights that obviously need connections. Does this just mean don’t fly with us ? or am I likely missing something?

Any help would be good: )

It just means Adelaide doesn't have direct flights. You will need to connect.

The website isn't smart enough to figure out ADL-OOL-NRT-CTS.

I would suggest booking a separate ADL-OOL, have a night on the GC then book a separate OOL-NRT-CTS - it's an incredibly long day otherwise.

I'd also check expedia.co.jp first (use Google Chrome for translation) as the fares are often much cheaper.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks, I just find it amusing that the website will connect for some flights and not others.

Another routing (all A320) would be:
ADL-DRW and a separate booking for DRW-MNL-NRT-CTS

I don't think Jetstar Japan schedules are loaded yet for Jan 2014. You can book to Narita or Kansai (both arrive after 6pm), but not the connecting JQ flight to Chitose. Note that the last buses to Niseko leave Chitose about 9:30pm arriving at Hirafu at midnight & probably snowing. (There may be one later option through NBS in Niseko.) For Furano, the last buses would have left late afternoon.
Jetstar is adequate provided nothing goes wrong. You need to monitor your booking for schedule changes (they are not always advised). The return flight is overnight, but you can pay for an exit row for a bit more comfort (where the seat in front won't recline onto your lap). Expect the Dec & Jan flights to be very full. JQ hasn't had a sale yet on Jan 2014 fares (& that could remain unlikely). Also, a 787 should be in service by then & that would have a different seatmap (3x3x3?).

A few months back I was logged into my QFF account staring at a SYD-HKG-CTS return for 144,000 points + $500 in J. I soooo wanted to push that button, but alas no time (and not enough money, even with a good airfare) to head to Niseko in Feb 2014. Might try for Feb 2015

CX via HKG would be a no brainer. I see Adelaide is treated just like Perth for Qantas International to Japan...

Yes Adelaide and Perth have copped a very short QFi to Asia straw out of this Emirates deal.

Qantas aren't interested in Perth or Adelaide, so perhaps Perth or Adelaide residents shouldn't be interested in Qantas.
