I am a Qantas Platinum FF and also Velocity Platinum member.

I am travelling to KL with Malaysian airline in few weeks. I want to know if i will be able to access any lounges without having any Enrich membership or status?

Sorry, no lounge access afforded to you by either of those memberships.

Wasn't there talk of Malaysian going OW?
Yes. Their entry was being sponsored by QF, but no firm date for when they will join save for expecting it will happen during 1H 2012.

If you are travelling business class you'll get lounge access to the Malaysian lounge if you are travelling from an airport with one otherwise you'll get access to the Qantas business lounge at that airport.

If you are travelling economy class the short answer is no. Currently flying MH as a Virgin platinum all you can do is credit the flight to VA. At the moment Qantas status gives you no benefits with MH.

You could use your Virgin platinum card to get any time access to Virgin lounge. This would be most use at Adelaide airport. As at the other airports you would need to go to the domestic terminal, assuming it was open at the time of your flight.

Even as an Enrich gold (and Qantas WP) travelling economy from BNE I don't get lounge access as they use the Qantas lounge (although I do get access to the MH lounge if travelling from Sydney).

Of course this will all change when MH joins Oneworld or if they start a lounge access partnership with Qantas before they join OW proper.

Thanks for the details.

So, can i access virgin lounge in KL? using anytime access if i am a platinum member? I thought you needed to travel using virgin to access the lounge? does anytime access still exist? Can you give me a link that details anytime access please?

Sorry I think I might not have explained what I was suggesting well.

Virgin Australia allow anytime access to their lounges (just their lounges not their partner lounges or contract lounges). Currently they only have domestic lounges. What I was suggesting is that you could go to the Virgin Australia domestic lounge before your flight. This is really only useful at Adelaide airport where it is a combined international and domestic terminal. You didn't say where you were departing from but for other airports where MH operates from in Australia it is probably not worth the hassle.

Subject to space availability, Velocity Platinum and Gold Members do not require a boarding pass, and are welcome to enter the Virgin Australia lounge at any time.
see Virgin Australia lounge | Virgin Australia

Virgin Australia does not operate a Virgin Australia Lounge in KL (or any overseas port for that matter) so it is not possible on the return leg.

Come on MH ... get your OW bag together and give us all a bit of SE Asian relief.

I'm surprised that MH don't have some sort of partnership going with QF already in the lead up to joining OW. Something like the cosy AA or BA relationship is what I was expecting to see. No rumours of this though so I guess we'll all have to wait. Supposed to be first half of 2012 ... I'm pessimistically guessing that means closer to June than to January though :)

I have flights booked from Syd - Kul on 30 June in Y:shock:. If MH join OW before that day, we will be relaxing in the QF F lounge prior to the flight. Otherwise, we will be roaming the airport:evil:

At this point in time, access to MH lounges anywhere occurs when you are a gold or platinum Enrich member (travelling in any class) or if you are travelling in business or first class with MH. There are no reciprocal lounge arrangements with OneWorld carriers yet. According to their website, you are supposed to be allowed access to an associated lounge (that is, when MH don't have one of their own) when you are flying MH if you're a gold or platinum member with Enrich.
Full membership into OneWorld is due to occur in 2H 2012 (not 1H 2012) but they are aiming for it to be closer to July than December.

Thread necro, sorry.

I am booked on MH to Tokyo for my next ski trip, 2013. In Business class I assume I get lounge access. My question is: do I get a guest in the lounge? My brother is coming along in economy and I was thinking I could get him access too, maybe.

If you are on a business class ticket with no elite status (on any programme), then you can't bring in a guest. You can only bring in a guest with gold/platinum status on Enrich or as per your OW FFP next year (once MH is part of OW).
