I know there is a Qantas seamless transfer service available to free transfer between terminals. But is there a condition that you do have to fly first?

My father in law will take an international flight Sunday morning, and me, my wife and mother-in-law will definitely want to say goodbye at the international terminal. We three will have another qantas flight back to MEL shortly, so is it possible for us to take the qantas transfer bus to domestic terminal or we have pay for the transfer?

My understanding is with a QF domestic ticket you can take take the free QF bus from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. There are many people who arrive at the international terminal on non QF flights but have a QF domestic ticket. Check in for QF flight at the international terminal

As you are catching a QF domestic flight you can take the bus without an issue and without charge. Check in at the desks or online and BYO boarding pass if you prefer - there aren't any self check-in kiosks there last time I was there but you don't have to have arrived on a QF international flight, or any international flight, to use the service.
