Recently travelled to multiple areas in Asia and was researching some options for a travel wifi router. I read lots of reviews for different devices and found some good options. BUT the biggest issue was always the same... Once you find a device, then you need to sort out the best local SIM card to use in each country, find a place to buy it and figure out how to recharge it . My big thing is ease of use. That’s when i found the Glocalme device online. Basically Glocalme me is a portable wifi router, supported by a phone app. Simply created my account, connected my device and i was away. I log into the app and selected from many different country options. Just click to buy and the relevant country package connects the first time you turn it on when you arrive in the country. Select a specific country pack, the amount of data, the number of days and pay in app. But wait, there’s more. It also has 2 slots for SIM cards if you want to go that way too.
Over the month i travelled through Singapore, China and Thailand and had no problems connecting, good speeds and resonable battery performance. I chose the Glocalme U2 model as I preferred the slimmer form factor. Highly recommend this device. I purchased on line and it shipped from HongKong, arriving within 5 days of order.

What's the pricing?
I currently use a Flexiroam SIM in my phone which covers lots of countries but fairly exoensive.

Also recently came across this similar product.
PokeFi - www.mypokefi.com
Seems to be a 4G wifi modem with unknown carrier. Don't offer a SIM only option. Has been distrubuted at numerous outlets at HKG airport for about 12 months and has good reviews on Flyertalk forum.
Covers 60 countries - www.mypokefi.com/country-list

Upfront is HK990 (US$125) in the airport (or HK1390 with postage online) including 5GB
Top up US$15/5Gb ($3/GB) or US$6/GB -- valid for 2years

Also have a US$15/5day price (non-consec days but speed limited after 750Mb so arguably not as good as the data plan)

The device cost is $160 to $200 depending on the model you buy. The Glocalme U2 I purchased was $160 and came with 1GB data.
The data depends on the location, size and amount of time. I purchased 3GB for 30days in China for $10. purchased 3GB for 30days in Thailand for $12.50. Or you can buy region packages or travel anywhere packs.

Sometimes it can be much more cost effective with Flexiroam to just load local data for the countries you are actually visiting (and do it when they have the periodic 10-15% off promos). Rather than using the global data, a few 3-5 or 30 day packs (depending on your travel plans) can work out much cheaper - and can all be set up in advance and with the appropriate dates.
