I will go to Hong Kong, I already booked Langham Hotel. Is it good? They have a special package, it include breakfast and dinner. What place I must visit in Hong Kong?

If its the Langham Hotel, I have heard that it is quite good. It is in a good position not far from the Star Ferry & MTR. Also Langham Place Hotel is quite good and also in a good position right at MongKok not far from the ladies markets and in the middle of shopping districtand MTR. We normally stayed at the YMCA Salisbury twice a year. Even though it is the YMCA it is a 3star hotel which has views all over the harbour (the same views of the Peninsula Hotel which is next door5* views for 3*prices).
:)

You also ask what places to see in HK? It depends if you want to shop:- Ladies Markets, Temple St Markets, Citigate outlet shopping at Tung Chung, Harbour City Shopping Centre (which is not far from Langham Hotel) and a day at LoWu Shopping Centre in Shenzhen on the border HK/China. Take a trip on the Star Ferry to Central and go on the Esculators (longest esculators in the world) you can get off at different points and walk around. The peak is always good if there is not so much polution. If you have kids a day at HK Disneyland &/or Ocean Park. I might add we took our 26 year old daughter there for her and my husbands 50th birthdays and had dinner with the characters after at the Disneyland Hotel. It was great. Take the bus out to Repulse Bay and Stanley Markets. Dinner at the Jumbo floating restaurant is quite nice. Go to the harbour front at night and watch the symphony of lights, I think it starts around 8.00pm. NgongPing cable car to the big buddah is an experience. Have a look on the tripadvisor site Hong Kong forum. I hope this gives you some ideas.:D

thank you, toottifruitti.

You seems know well about HK. I think u may visit HK many times. It is my first time, I want to prepare very well.

The package help me save some money, i think i will go to shopping and the Ocean Park, because i love marine animals, especial sealion and seal:oops:

Sorry, one more question.

I want to know about the food in HK. The package include breakfast and dinner, that mean i need to go out for my lunch. Any recommendation? I want to try the local restaurant, but i afraid the people may not know english very well and my english not so well:oops:.

Depending on what you want, most places don't know English very well anyway. Local cuisine generally requires you to know Chinese, though some places will have pictures on the menu, which helps out quite a lot.

The more western places will know English.

What's your native language?

There is a great restaurant in Hankow Rd (I think it is called Chuk Yuen Seafood Restaurant) not far from your hotel. The lobster is great. Bit expensive but lots of locals eat there. Each time we have been we are the only westerners there. It is on the same side as EMI records shop & the Esprit Outlet shop. Also dim sum restaurant just off Nathan Rd. You walk up Nathan Road coming from your hotel on the left hand side, there is a couple of arcades as you walk towards Jordan. If you go into the arcade around 97 Nathan Rd on your right you will see a restaurant go upstairs and you will have a great dim sim. We were taken there by a local businessman. If you really want an experience go to the Peninsula Hotel for high tea and just watch the people coming and going. We found it a wonderful way to pass the time during a rainy afternoon. The YMCA Salisbury has a great buffet for lunch and dinner in the restaurant on the 4th floor. It overlooks the harbour.

If you are after great jewellery with great prices go to NewGrand Jewellery and Watch Co. in Nathan Road not far from the Dim Sum restaurant I mentioned. Jennifer and Henry will really look after you. :)

thanks, toottifruitti.

You are very nice, you help me so much.

Are u live in HK? You really know it very well.
If u can be my tour guide, I won't get lost and can save so many time.

It was my pleasure. No I don't live in HK I live in Oz but we try to get to HK and Shenzhen, Guangzhou a couple of times a year. :)

You will enjoy Hong Kong! It is a great place to visit. I whole heatedly agree Ocean Park is a great place to spend the better part of a day. They have the seal and dolphin show I thin a few times a day and the Californian seal enclosure(I think its called the pier)...so you will enjoy that. Definitely check out The Peak, if you can try it at night...the amount of electricity used to illuminate the city must be staggering....but absolutely amazing view!
Someone on here mentioned for shopping the centre at the Tung Chung station, and not 2 weeks ago a local resident of Hong Kong was a customer and talking about shopping in HK she mentioned that was a good one to shop at. The added bonus is its right at the entrance to Ngong Ping, the great cable car to Big Buddha...which is an enjoyable ride.
Dont worry you cant easily get lost in HK. Just look for the MTR and your saved LOL!
Sorry I cant help with your choice of Hotel as I havent stayed there. Trip adviser can be useful, somewhat. As for food, try learn some chinese dishes and how to pronounce them before you go, that can help to enjoy some of the local food!
Have Fun

I want to plan at trip to Hong Kong this year. Actually have a friend working for PBEC in Hong Kong...I'll see if he has any recommendations on accommodations.

Are you willing to pay for a tour guide? I suggest you orient first yourself with their culture. Google HK and get important information like translation of basic english to HK language. Bring map (I think this is available from the hotel), calculator for paying and shopping purposes and relevant pictures. Some of them can easily understand you by pointing to the pictures even without talking in their native laguage.:)

You can pick up maps from airport. There are information booths everywhere which just have maps, what to see in HK, what to do for families in HK. There is one even at baggage pickup.
