Good Morning!!

I'm hoping someone might have some insight for me...

We (Hubby, myself and bub) are relocating to Calgary in November and wanted Travel Insurance for while we are away... 2 years at a guess. Problem being that the quotes I have got are approx $4k per annum!!!

I would normally NEVER go on holidays without insurance but $4k is a bit crazy... does anyone else have any ideas?

Unfortunatley Credit Card is not an issue as we are travelling on one-way JASA's....

Any other avenues I could try?
Thanks :)
Joy.

None that I'm aware of, all of the companies I'm familiar of have a max. 12 month policy.

In the old days they used to extend it out to 18 months but haven't heard of that happening of late.

Others may have more of an idea.

TG

Thanks TG,
Yes 12m policy only with an option to extend for another 12m before expiry... I'm at a bit of a loss... especially as Hubby is a bit of an extremist... terrified of going anywhere with him uninsured!! :)

The amount you're talking about would not be unusual for expatriate medical insurance, which is a radically different beast to travel insurance. I pay more than you have been quoted, but it covers my children as well. The medical insurance covers all kinds of things, including med-evac costs and repatriation of remains. You would also need to keep in mind that medical care in North America is horrendously expensive. I also pay for what my provider (William Russell from the UK) calls corporate traveller insurance, which covers me for up to six weeks' travelling away from home base during the year. I have been covered by William Russell now for six or seven years, and have been happy with them. As far as I am aware, no Australian insurer offers a similar product for people looking to arrange their own medical insurance (OTOH there are plenty who will deal directly with employers sending their employees overseas for work). For my situation, all of this is in the context of living and working in a country where medical care is limited, and local insurance is not available. You may have better luck in Canada with a local health insurance provider, but obviously this will not cover you for med-evacs or repatriation to Australia. Apologies if I have got the wrong end of the pineapple and misunderstood your question.

In the whole world people are so busy with their businesses, they live a stressful life, and always they are in search for peace of mind and relax for both health and mind, but many of them fail to found it. One of the best ways to find peace of mind and relax for health with enjoyment and entertainment is an adventurous trip and what if your trip is safe. Safety is also a main concern, for this purpose there are many travel insurance policies like single travel insurance and annual travel insurance, you need to select one from them.

I check around. Just did a quick quote for 2 people online for 12 months and got between 1200-1800 a year.
