Good Evening,

Long time lurker first time poster. I don't fly often but am going on longhaul flight next week (SYD/SIN/FRA), and wanted to ask if anybody uses those travel compression socks/bandage things?

I have a (relatively) bad varicose vein, which does not clot, but can get a bit painful when flying (or driving). Does anybody have any tips?.

regards,

Paul C

Compression stockings are excellent - go to any (decent) pharmac_ and they'll be able to advise and supply. Some people find them scratchy and/or too hot, others a bit difficult to get on. But generally, once on, no problem!

I'd also suggest washing them (just normal washing machine cycle) to take some of the scratchiness out prior to the first wear.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My father suffers the same problem to quite a severe extent on one leg, and the compression stockings helped him out on his recent visit from the UK.
Make sure you get measured rather than trying to guess the size, it'll make them much more comfortable.:D

Thanks for the replies, I was sure people probably did use them, but when thinking about going out and buying them I had the kind of anxiety usually associated with going to the chemist to buy condoms, I am fairly young to have varicose veins (by product of not looking after my health). Points about length and washing them noted ;)
