Hi

Mentioned in another thread that I'm travelling UK to Aus later this year with EK on a QF ticket, changing planes at DXB (ecomomy class).

On the outward journey the stopover in DXB is 2hrs 45 mins, and both planes use T3, so plenty of time. Returning, however, the stopover is only 1hr 50mins. My flight from PER arrives into DXB T1 at 5.30am, and my connection leaves at 7.20am from T3.

I have heard horror stories about DXB and long queues for several security checks even when transiting, and that early morning is one of the busiest times and I am concerned about not having left enough time for all this.

I understand you can walk from T1 to T3 as they are connected. After an 11hr flight I'd really like to grab a cigarette or two as well and not sure if T1 or T3 would be my best option - if time even allows this to be an option!

I'll hopefully have enough time on the outward journey to check out T3 and T1 a bit which may help matters, but has anyone with experience of DXB got any advice? Is it really the horrendous expeience I've read about?
