Hi everyone,

Thanks to all who helped me out with my decision between BA & QF first class. I have decided to go with BA.

But now i have another question for you all. Im booked on QF gold coast to sydney then BA sydney to singapore. As im flying BA can i still use the QF international tranfer bus to get to T1.

regards

mark

Yes, I have done this before twice. Mel-Syd domestically and then free QF bus to international terminal for BA flight to London. You just go to the bus bit (opposite gate 1 from memory) and they let you in to bus area.

Is the transfer bus tied to airlines then?
Its a Qantas service provided to Qantas passengers. Qantas allow people departing on partner airlines to also use the service.

Transferring from T2 and T3 (Domestic Airports) to T1 (International Airport):
The Transfer Lounge is located airside (after passing through the security check point), opposite Gate 1 in T3. A shuttle bus service is available to passengers that are travelling or have travelled on a Qantas flight (including codeshare flights) or oneworld flight. The shuttle buses operate as required, approximately every 10 minutes during non-peak periods . On arrival at T1 proceed up the escalator, through immigration and security to your departure gate.

I quite regularly use the service to transfer from a QF Domestic fly to a *A International in Sydney without any problems, I think as long as you've used QF to Sydney they'll transfer you as part of the service.

yes, that is in the wording quote above - "are travelling or have travelled on a Qantas flight (including codeshare flights) or oneworld flight." they may take exception to someone who says "but I travelled on a Qantas flight in October last year".

There is no doubt that BA are QF partner that would entitle a transfer from T1->T3 at SYD. Last month did this transfer from QF->SQ, and all they asked to see was my bag tag (I guess if I didn't have a bag tag the itinerary would suffice). I'm not 100% sure, but I've got a suspicion even if one flew into SYD on DJ and were flying out on BA, you could get away with using the T1->T3 bus.

I am in a similar position although qantas to Sydney T3 and jetstar the next day T1, I'm not clear on what happens with my baggage though, do they allow baggage on the shuttle? I wouldnt have thought so.

I have used it a number of times but always with baggage booked through to final destination.

To get on the shuttle, you have to clear security going out - so your bags would need to be done as hand luggage.

As it very unlikely that your baggage would be checked through, you'll have to collect your bags upon arrival at T3.

Check in for JQ in T1 opens 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight, so you would need to take it with you as you overnight.
