Great you enjoyed it - which is all that matters in the end - but strange to offer fried eggs which presumably were fried several hours before actual consumption.

In fact, today’s ADL-BNE has fried eggs which were cafe perfect and very runny. Shock of the month so far

Ouuuh, that looks goooood! What was the rather odd greenish sauce on the egg- sour cream? And the tart, was that potato? Very intriguing.

I'm not 100% sure what the sauce was - could have been some type of creme fraiche I think. It was sold as potato gratin - can't say how it was as I didn't have any.

Flew on QF 151 again. Service once more was really great. Active, happy crew. Quick service (didn't bother with trolleys) so people had time to rest. J cabin had maybe 10 pax. Y again was pretty full.

Had the main meal, followed by some ice cream and a coffee. Strangely no menus on the flight. Was offered beef cheeks, soup or cheese as alternatives, from memory.

Didn't have breakfast. (Was asleep or it simply wasn't offered).

Here's the beef. It was tender and pretty tasty.

Had the duck rillettes which has previously been great. This was mediocre. The duck itself was tasteless. But with the mustard and cornichons was passable - and at least a decent portion.

Salad yet again just pathetic. Got to be the worst of its type in the air.

And the bread was odd - one half was almost fridge-cold, the other half lukewarm. Kind of irrelevant but unfortunately a sign of things to come.

Having skipped breakfast, then slummed it in the AKL QF 'F' Lounge rather than the EK lounge given time of day, I was still a bit hungry. So I had the only decent, substantial main - the monkfish (other choices: cheese, soup, salad or a sandwich -- a bit pathetic).

It was tasty, BUT also not properly warmed up. Parts were steaming, others were room temp. Crew (who were actually really great throughout the flight) offered to reheat. I'd have preferred a fresh meal but (perhaps not surprisingly) almost everyone else had chosen the fish. Oh well, those behind me should at least have had a properly warmed meal.

SYD-AKL 18:30 departure (delayed an hour), dinner ona an A330.

Menu:

I’ve cheated a bit here as the above is from a domestic flight, but starter and main options were identical. Didn’t take photos of food as I have posted the dishes a few times on the domestic J meals thread.

Crew was great, and service friendly (Kate the CSM). But a bit slow. Two PDB drinks rounds offered (we had to return to the gate after an AC problem). But strangely no pre-dinner drink round. Dessert trolley also not used - just done direct from galley. Hence I got suckered with an ice cream stick rather than a proper tub. But it was nice.

Amenity kit provided.

Not a J specific issue but oh boy the QF F lounge in AKL was packed the other day. About 2pm. Two QF flights (737 to MEL and A330 to SYD). Plus a Qatar flight, and at least one FJ flight. Sadly the EK lounge was closed.

Menu from MEL-AKL 12:15 A330 service about a fortnight ago.

Took the flight immediately after two EK F flights - so I knew it was going to be rough. Even with reduced expectations, I found the flight disappointing. While crew were friendly, the CSM made a point several times that it was going to be lightning fast flight of only 3 hours. I think this was his way to provide cover for a disappointing aspect of the flight to me - no pre-lunch drink service. While I didn't care on this flight, it also happened on the return a few days' later (different crew).

PDB as normal. No amenity kit. On the plus side, I was in row 6 (as far back as I've been in a long, long time) but had my meal order taken reasonably early so no risk of missing out - not that any of the options really appealed.

Braised chicken was tasteless and looked terrible. To be fair, I wasn't that hungry and after EK F....

Ice cream was a stick so declined. After the magnificent cheese platters I'd had on Emirates I thought it best not ask for Qantas' pathetic offering.

All up a pretty disappointing flight.

Boy, I cannot wait for the new QF lounge finally coming to AKL! And on the food, gosh that chicken looks disgusting

Does Neil Perry actually live in the world QF business class passengers reside?
Some of his offerings are so un appetising!
