Off topic: how is it that big photos can be added by our colleagues, on here.
My photos of the QFi SYD F lounge, at 4.xx mb are deemed too big, and this website won't accept it.
Is it more so a Google Chrome "problem", and if I go to Firefox, I am able to add larger mb photos on here?
Thanks.

Manaia Lounge, at CHC airport, late afternoon snack/early dinner, this pic will link, but others won't.
This one is supposedly a 1.95kb photo.

My large iphone photos are under 2MB so have never had a problem. A while back I had to downsize photos taken on a proper camera as 4+MB never worked.

Supper menu for MEL-CHC (red eye service) early this month.

Had the quiche and ice cream. Both were fine.

Interesting no breakfast was offered as the flight was very short (2hr 40 mins flying time which resulted in an 4:40am arrival) and the crew took a while to serve dinner. By the time dinner was cleared for everyone in J, there was only about 1.5 hours left to CHC.

I just did the overnight MEL-AKL flight this week. Sadly the meatballs were again on the menu, but they were OK. I too did not get an offer for breakfast. The green juice was handed around, but no offers of tea, coffee, or the muffins / Danish, except to a non working travelling staff member (stood with the crew several times for a chat). Service otherwise was very good. Am sure if I asked breakfast would have been provided, but given there was plenty of time and most people didn't eat the supper, I thought it was a bit poor that the breakfast wasn't offered.

Thankfully no meatballs on my flight but I saw the crusted fish served to the pax across the aisle and it looked and smelled good.

We weren't offered even the pear and ginger energiser but I guess since most pax had the late supper it was not unreasonable to not offer breakfast.

Given it is on the menu I really think they should offer it regardless of whether pax have had the supper. Or at least ask pax at the start if they want to be woken for breakfast -- has happened before. I was awake and could see what was happening / knew our flight time and descent time well in advance. Had I just woken up and expected breakfast, only to hear the captain ask the crew to prepare the cabin for landing (which is when the lights came on and the crew came back to life) I'd have been a bit pissed. By no means a bad crew -- Emma as always a great CSM and Daryl looking after J was very good. I hope this isn't a trend though to cut out breakfast or dumb down the red eye service to the QF ex-PER red eye rubbish. fortunately my next 3 trans-Tasman flights this next week are all daytime flights! But am interested to hear other experiences.

We've done a few flights recently...

SYD-CHC in March

All but two of the J seats were occupied by AFFers and the crew handled us beautifully. Food was good but after five hours in the F lounge I didn't need much...and I can't actually remember what I ate.

CHC-BNE also in March (6am departure)

Those poached eggs were perfectly cooked and it was one of the better airline breakfasts.

Apologies for the photo. I had the pork cutlet. It was tasty. Given I had just had a lovely meal in the F lounge, I was impressed. Accompaniments weren't great - so much so that the CSM apologised, gave me the quiche as well and poured me two glasses of wine (in addition to the scotch I had immediately after take-off). Needless to say that's all I had until a coffee and the green juice a couple of hours later.

I actually enjoy these red-eye flights. Crew are always very attentive, I have always had an empty seat next to me, and most other pax sleep so it feels like a private flight.

But how do you feel on arrival and throughout the next day? They're so short, plus the timechange, so I never book them because I am sure I will feel wrecked when I get there!

Usually fine. I've been lucky most times I get early check-in at my preferred hotel (Pullman) so able to shower etc and grab a couple of hours sleep before facing the day (afternoon or evening work engagements usually). But pretty wrecked by the evening, yes. Given flight s so short I prefer to stay awake. Probably shouldn't drink though...

I'm going to take advantage of the A330s out of SYD now more often I suspect.

Unfortunately the mains options were all pretty poor. I had the prawn salad (prawns were fine but noodles had a funny taste - unfortunately got the same thing as the only option on a SYD-CBR service a few days later, so the lovely CSM got me a Y sandwich). Seatmate had a chorizo dog which looked ok but she said was a bit dry and fiddly to eat. Across the aisle the roast chicken looked dry as well the gentleman left most of it.

Ice cream was good ole vanilla bean so I had the cheese which was actually rather nice.
