Topping up mileage for next Status Level

Just looked at my MP account and I'm about 7000 miles short of 1K status.

Does anyone know if UA allows you to "buy" your way to the next status level or will I have to consider doing another SYD-SIN-SYD trip on SQ before the end of the year?

Yes there are ways to buy status on UA, but they may or may not be useful to you.

You can buy a pre-paid travel card (restricted to UA only and time limited, amongst other things) that comes with status attached (for 1k the amount is hefty - something like US$20k).

Some UA affiliated credit cards come with bonus EQMs. But only ones I've seen are issued in USA.

For the past few years, UA has had a double EQM promo around November. Pay something like US$200 (possibly more since the amount has gone up each year). Not guaranteed to happen.
