Top 20 most annoying things about flying

smh said:
In 2007, a leading neuropsychologist likened passing through Heathrow to facing a riot. Two years on, we consider whether the air travel experience has improved and list 20 of air travellers' biggest gripes.

A pretty standard list of pax complaints, and a shot at QF of course.

Is it just me or are many of these so called annoying things a bit of a reach?

The only annoyance I'd rate as worth a second thought would be flight delays, lost baggage and perhap too many people in the customs line at once leaving you barely enough time to catch your connecting flight.

I agree. They suggest 'booking a club class lounge'? Staying at airport hotels to avoid commutes? Pack your own lunch cause it's expensive on board, *or* fly a full service airline, only to be told that the food is bad on full-service airlines (and you probably should have packed your own lunch), scaring about cabin air quality? talking about crying babies (when the first part refers to travelling with rug rats) as annoyances?

I really get annoyed with mainstream media. But then again, We're not mainstream travellers:)

They say avoid premium transport services, but avoid driving as well...hmmm i guess we all need to walk to the airport.

It would be just as easy to compile a list of the 20 most pleasant experiences travellers have had flying - but what paper would want to do this? People are much happier whingeing and complaints sell papers! Out of the list I find that lost luggage is the worst. Last year I travelled from PRA - ATH via BUD and my luggage got lost somewhere. I was reconnected with it on Mykonos two days later. The clothes that I had on when I was dispossed of my luggage nearly had a life of their own in the Greek summer. At least I got my luggage back. If this is the worst that is going to happen to you on a 2.5 months RTW trip using 4 different airlines (all OW) then that's not too bad.

It's easy to manufacture a complaint if you want to.

One of my top 20 annoying things is media articles which are a hack job from an article published overseas that they've tried to Australian-ise but fail miserably.

Things like quoting a Which? survey, talking about $10 sandwiches (5 pounds), high streets, and numerous other things that are very UK-centric.

And didn't take long to find the original UK article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/6318226/20-reasons-why-air-travel-is-so-stressful.html

It might be pedantic but I've not giving the article much credit. It's Qatar Airways, not Airlines. How hard is it to check a simple 'fact' like that?

Yes such terminology always set my plagiarism alarm bell off. Another word is 'daft' which is not used here.
