TK mixed class to Europe ex MEL fr. $4.1k (TG/JQ Y to BKK/SIN, then TK J)

I have a holiday in Europe booked for October. Wanted to fly J but didn't want to stump up $8K+ for the privilege (or pay for J on the day flight to SE Asia).

Turkish Airlines is doing mixed class flights bookable through their website www.turkishairlines.com. Prices start from about $4.1k...

Out of MEL, you can book the initial leg to/from SIN or BKK in Jetstar (*shudder*) or Thai in economy (look for booking class E on JQ or Q on TG), then on TK to Europe via IST.
 
I've just noticed this is available ex-SYD as well, although availability is not as widespread (e.g. SYD-BUD is available out 1/11 back 22/11 for $4120)...
