Hi all,

I have changed jobs after 18 years and as such will not be doing much travel for the next 12 months or so apart from a couple of family social trips. The change is due in part to having 4 kids and wanting to see my triplet boys grow up in their early years. I thank you all for the wealth of information over the past few years without which I might not have made LTG so quickly. I still have WP until June 2012 and maybe an extra year if they grant me a free year, who knows. Either way I have life time gold so access to a lounge when flying. In the next few years I might start traveling again as my role changes to a group role, until then all the best and i will lurk whenever I can.

Cheers taswegian..........

All the best taswegian77.

I think your hands will be full raising triplets!

Enjoy the family time taswegian77. I'm sure you'll be back sometime and it will seem like you'd never been away!

Good luck! You'll probably still need the NC headphones at your place ;)
I have appreciated your advice on a number of occasions
Cheers!

Sign the kids up for FF memberships early. There are some schemes that will sign them up under 2. Family flying can be fun, especially when your kids get status too (mine is *G, unfortunately they don't go to the lounge when flying UM though). An Amex Plat chargecard comes with free Priority Pass lounge access for main and 2nd cardholder and travel insurance for the family. Keep collecting the miles when spending on all the family kit you will need!

No, it is only free for the main cardholder. There are one or two free entries for a guest from memory, but after that they pay full wack.

Supp card holder/s do/es not get free Priority Pass entry.

Well done to you for making such a sacrifice.

Best of luck with the triplets! I have twins boys (just turned 4 yr old) and I know how much work they are. I tip my hat to you with triplets!

You can nominate somenoe to receive a plat supp card. This person receives a priority pass card too. So your second cardholder can priority pass lounge access. Plat cardholders (including plat supp cardholders) can also access a number of lounges with theirbplat cards if flying on certain airlines.

OT; Another card which l have just found out about recently that has decent lounge access is Diners Club.

Diners Club - Location Airport Lounges (International airport lounges 133 lounges globally)

Diners Club Card Fees
Annual Card fee $135
Rewards fee $77
Diners Club is $212 AUD per annum

Diners Club Australia - Personal Benefits

Priority Pass - over 600 lounges globally.
Priority Pass is US$99. After a visit to a participating lounge a fee of just US$27 per person, per visit is charged to the member’s designated payment card.

Priority Pass is $126US for the card. $27 thereafter per visit.

I've just learn't how kids can completely change your perspective on life. Up until 10 days ago my main priority was work, which basically meant travelling, and I would't have changed that for anything. Now with the arrival of my first kid just I've had to scale back the travel, which I'm still coming to terms with (when my little one is sleeping I instinctively check back with all my airline sites looking for deals). It's hard to let go of!

Good on you taswegian77.

Hey vec,

Congrats on the new born! Hope that you are all doing well.

Congrats vec on your new arrival. I re-qualified for WP so will have at least 18 months as a WP until I take the drop to LTG. When I had my first son, the travel stopped for a while then picked up again but having three at once certainly changed my perspective on life and how it impacted my wife. For now my feet are set on the ground but who knows in 18 months time. I do doubt I will get to the heady heights of free F upgrades, gifts etc again but I will stick with QF if I do they have been good to me. Good luck with your new arrival, the best times are in the first couple of years.

Congrats - one perspective is that at least all your travel has prepared you for sleepless nights and disruptions to sleep patterns :)

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'll still retain wp but will make weekends at home a much higher priority (well my office will make sure I'm home for them anyway ).
Sleep, sleep, sleep.... where did you go?
